How to file a tax extension for free with TaxSlayer Log in to your TaxSlayer account. If you dont have an existing account, you can create one. Go to Federal Section. Go to Miscellaneous Forms. Select Application for Extension (Form 4868)
For the current year program, log into the account and click the Continue, then select 2021 Amended Return from the left side of the screen on the navigation bar. For Prior year Amended returns, select the Prior Years tab and select the tax year you wish to amend.
You usually can still get a refund for up to three years prior. So, for 2022, you can still file for 2021, 2020, and 2019. This will also help you with a net-operating-loss carryover.
You must select a reason for the deactivation and then select Clear your return and restart. (This can only be done if you have not made a payment and/or filed a return) Clearing your return will remove all current year information so you can start over.
Deactivate your account-By clicking on the Settings drop-down menu and then clicking Transaction History you will see your account charges, banking information, IRS payment information, and deactivate your return. You must select a reason for the deactivation and then select Clear your return and restart.
