These features are available on Mac OS 12 Monterey or newer. By following the steps in the tutorial, users can access the permissions button in Preview to set security settings for their PDFs. These permissions apply when duplicating, exporting, or saving a PDF.

A permissions password (also known as a master password) requires a password to change permission settings. Using a permissions password, you can restrict printing, editing, and copying content in the PDF. Recipients dont need a password to open the document in Reader or Acrobat.
