On your computer, open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets. At the top, right-click the letter of the column you want to sort by. Click Sort sheet A to Z or Sort sheet Z to A.

In Google Sheets, the function =ASC(text) is used to return the ASCII value of the first character in a text string. ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) is a character encoding standard that assigns a unique numerical value to each character.
To use these operations in a formula, simply enter the appropriate symbol (+, -, *, /) between the cell references or values you want to calculate. For example, to calculate the sum of two cells, you would enter =A1+B1 (without the quotes).
