By default, a document uses portrait orientation, because most documents are primarily text, and text works well in this vertical format. This is what it looks like when you print a portrait page.
Page orientation Landscape means the page is oriented horizontally. Portrait means the page is oriented vertically.
Portraiture can tell us about how we see people. Portraits often show us what a person looks like, but they can also capture an idea of a person or what they stand for. Portraits can also tell us how a person wants to be seen, and capture a particular mood that the sitter is experiencing.
1. With graphics or printing, portrait mode is the orientation of the page that prints the image vertically across the page instead of horizontally. By default, all programs have the page orientation and printer pages set up in portrait mode.
Portrait printing is when the correct orientation of a printout appears with the shortest edge in the horizontal direction. For example, the A4 printout thumbnails in diagram 1 (below) would be classed as landscape and portrait respectively.
Change orientation of whole document To change the orientation of the whole document, select Layout Orientation. Choose Portrait or Landscape.
Portrait mode is a feature found in the camera settings of many modern smartphones. It allows you to take photos with a sharp focus on the subject while the background is blurred. This effect, known as bokeh, gives your photos a professional quality by highlighting the subject of the photo.
Portrait mode is a feature in quite a few smartphones that helps you take better pictures of people by capturing a sharp face and a nicely blurred background. Its specifically made to improve close-up photos of one person hence the name portrait (though you can use it for objects).
