hey here at the oklahoma department of corrections we have so many facilities around the state and if you look at it this way each facility is like an entire city from top to bottom we have a city manager who is our warden we have an emergency response team this is the hornetamp;#39;s nest grenade we canamp;#39;t breathe when i was a correctional officer i spent 11 years in uniform you never know whatamp;#39;s going to happen that day weamp;#39;re teaching the inmates to be better citizens out in society well hello for me contributing to a better human being and a better society means everything the most rewarding part of the job is just seeing these people get out that have made mistakes and going on and doing better things in their lives we all make mistakes so itamp;#39;s very fulfilling when the inmate can come to you and say i i donamp;#39;t feel like iamp;#39;ve had a support system outside of here but you guys helped me thanks for helping out guys i enjoyed workin

Be at least 20 years old; AND. Possess a high school diploma or GED and have completed a training course conducted by/approved by the Department and certified by the Council on Law Enforcement Education; OR. Possess at least 30 semester hours of education from an accredited college or university.
Correctional Officer (CO) is the entry level for those seeking a career in correctional security. The Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) offers an additional four security classifications requiring increased levels of leadership skills: Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain.
Job Standards Completion of a secondary education or equivalent. Must have a valid Ohio drivers license and a clean criminal record. Successful completion of the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy in Corrections required, along with specialized training in self-defense and the use of safety / protective equipment.
