Ctrl + u Delete whole line (zsh)/cut until beginning (bash): In Zsh, Ctrl + u deletes the entire line, while in Bash, it cuts (deletes) text from the current cursor position to the beginning of the line. Its a convenient way to clear the command line entirely or remove unnecessary input.
You can clear the terminal screen in Linux using the clear command, pressing Ctrl + L, or using printf to send the clear screen escape sequence. Additionally, some terminal emulators like KDE Konsole have specific settings to clear the terminal screen.
To empty log file Linux, you can use several commands such as truncate , echo , cat , or dd . For example, to empty a log file using the truncate command, you can run truncate -s 0 logfilename . Another method is using echo logfilename to overwrite the log file with an empty string.
Use the arrow keys, or alternatively, press j or k keys to move the cursor to the line you want to delete. Once you have positioned your cursor on that specific line, type dd (thats two ds) and then press enter. The entire current line will be deleted from your file.
First use Ctrl+A to move cursor to the start of the line and then type Ctrl+K to delete the whole line.
Insert characters at cursor position: Type them. Erase unwanted characters: Use the Delete key or press Control-H, then type the new characters. Erase the line: Press Control-U.
The visibility of wipeout frame is controlled by WIPEOUTFRAME system variable. We can turn on the wipeout frame by setting the value to 1. We can also turn off wipeout frame by setting the value to 0.
Esc: Clear the current line of text. It removes the text and moves your cursor back to the start of the prompt. Backspace: Delete one character to the left of your cursor. Ctrl+Backspace: Delete one word to the left of your cursor.
