To delete an index from an indexer cluster, we need to edit indexes. conf, and extract the stanza of the index. We cant use either Splunk Page, or CLI. We edit the file on the master node first, as with all such changes on an indexer cluster, and then apply the changes to the peer nodes.
Deleting an index deletes its documents, shards, and metadata.
The DROP INDEX command is used to delete an index in a table. MS Access: DROP INDEX indexname ON tablename; SQL Server: DROP INDEX tablename.indexname; DB2/Oracle: DROP INDEX indexname; MySQL: ALTER TABLE tablename. DROP INDEX indexname;
You can specify the query criteria in the request URI or the request body using the same syntax as the Search API. When you submit a delete by query request, Elasticsearch gets a snapshot of the data stream or index when it begins processing the request and deletes matching documents using internal versioning.
To delete the index, you must roll over the data stream so a new write index is created. You can then use the delete index API to delete the previous write index.
To close all indices, use all or * . By default, you must explicitly name the indices you are closing. To specify indices to close with all , * , or other wildcard expressions, change the action.
To delete all indices, use all or * . To disallow the deletion of indices with all or wildcard expressions, set the action. destructiverequiresname cluster setting to true .
sudo apt-get purge elasticsearch Uninstalls Elasticsearch and deletes its configuration files. sudo rm -rf /etc/elasticsearch Removes the Elasticsearch configuration directory. sudo rm -rf /usr/share/elasticsearch Removes the Elasticsearch installation directory.
You use DELETE to remove a document from an index. You must specify the index name and document ID. You cannot send deletion requests directly to a data stream. To delete a document in a data stream, you must target the backing index containing the document.
Removing log indices by using Elasticsearch API Identify the indices that you want to delete based on your list from Step 1. From the navigation window, prepare the request to delete your index. DELETE /{your index name} Click the green triangle to make the API call. Repeat the DELETE command delete more indices.
