Dot(.) notation requires the property name to be a valid identifier, meaning it cannot be a variable or an expression that resolves to a string. If you try to use a variable or an expression with dot notation, you will get undefined.
Since dot is used as a separator between method and class in S3 methods, it makes no sense to allow it in variable names. For instance, data. frame can be really confusing to new users, especially those with experience in Python.
A Dot Variable is a variable to which has been pre-assigned a fixed value. The name derives from the setup of the variable within a document: [. VarName]. Note the period (dot) introducing the variable.
Variables are used to store data. The name of a variable must begin with an alphabetic character and cannot contain whitespace or reserved characters. A variable can be of a specific type, indicating the kind of data it stores.
The dot plot shows the distribution of numerical variables where a value is represented by each dot on a number line or on graph. The distribution of continuous data points, such as a histogram, is shown in the Wilkinson dot diagram that displays individual data points rather than bins.
One dot on top of the variable indicates first derivative, two dots, the second derivative.
