today were going to be talking about the earliest signs of pregnancy that you may even get before your missed period one of the earliest pregnancy symptoms is changes in your cervix throughout your cycle the position of your cervix changes when youre ovulating your cervix is going to be higher up in your vagina and then as you get closer to menstruation it will lower down again so if you know where your position of your cervix is its going to be high and if you are pregnant it is not going to lower down before your period the texture of your cervix can also change if youre not pregnant its going to feel hard like the end of your nose if you are pregnant its going to become softer this is helpful if youve been monitoring it for a few months before so that you know what your own cervix feels like your cervical mucus or discharge can also give you an early clue a couple of days before you ovulate your mucus will be creamy and opaque on the day you ovulate it becomes stretchy and li

Updated screening guidelines from the American Cancer Society. The societys previous guideline, issued in 2012, recommended initiation of cervical cancer screening at age 21 years. Since then, HPV vaccination has led to decreased rates of precancerous cervical changes among women aged 20 to 24 years, data have shown.
In 2005, that meant screening women aged 21 to 65 with a Pap test every 3 years. Over time, the USPSTF recommendations evolved.
If your Pap test is abnormal, this means that your sample contained abnormally shaped cervical cells. Most of the abnormal cells found during a Pap test are the result of a cervical or vaginal infection and are not cancerous. Abnormal Pap tests are very common.
In most cases, an abnormal Pap test is a result of: A human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. A sexually transmitted infection (STI or STD), such as herpes or trichomoniasis. A bacterial or yeast infection. Inflammation in the pelvic area. Normal cellular changes that occur with age.
A big reason for the change: We now better understand the way cervical cancer develops over timewe know it takes many years to developso weve expanded the time between screenings. We also now have two screening options to detect cervical cancer, the Pap test and the HPV test.
An abnormal result means that cell changes were found on your cervix. This usually does not mean that you have cervical cancer. Abnormal changes on your cervix are likely caused by HPV. The changes may be minor (low-grade) or serious (high-grade). Most of the time, minor changes go back to normal on their own.
The current recommendation in Ontario is a Pap test every three years. Make the Pap test part of your regular health checkup until you are 70 years old. Pap tests can stop at age 70 if you have had three or more normal tests in the past 10 years.
In May 2012, changes to cervical cancer screening guidelines in Ontario recommended that women who have ever been sexually active receive a Pap test every three years starting at age 21. Prior to 2012, annual Pap tests were recommended for women starting three years after becoming sexually active.
