Undo tablespaces contain undo logs, which are collections of records containing information about how to undo the latest change by a transaction to a clustered index record. Undo logs are stored in the system tablespace by default but can be stored in one or more undo tablespaces instead.
The original copy of the modified data is called undo data. Saving this information is necessary for the following reasons: To undo any uncommitted changes made to the database in the event that a rollback operation is necessary.
Contrary to DELETE, we cannot undo the effects of the DROP command on the data. Table space is released from memory via the DROP command because the table and its contents are permanently deleted. A DDL Command is DROP. The deletion of an object with the DROP command is irreversible and cannot be undone.
SQL alter system set undotablespace=undorbs1; Drop the old undo tablespace: SQL drop tablespace undorbs0 including contents; NOTE: Dropping the old tablespace may give ORA-30013: undo tablespace %s is currently in use.
Yes .. you can do this. create a new undo tablespace undoTbs2 Alter System SET UndoTablespace=undoTbs2. wait until all pending transactions using the old undo tablespace have commited or rolled back. DROP TABLESPACE undoTbs1.
If an active transaction requires undo space and the undo tablespace does not have available space, then the system starts reusing unexpired undo space. This action can potentially cause some queries to fail with the snapshot too old message.
Temporary undo records are stored in the databases temporary tablespaces and thus are not logged in the redo log. When temporary undo is enabled, some of the segments used by the temporary tablespaces store the temporary undo, and these segments are called temporary undo segments.
Thus the only solution to accomplish the goal are as follows : Create a new undo tablespace(The following command will create the Bigfile tablespace with the size of 100MB initially) : Set the new tablespace as the undo tablespace to be used: Once the above step is done then drop the old undo tablespace:
