In the previous video, we introduced you to importing questions from GIFT files. Apart from GIFT files, CSV files are also useful when you need to add multiple questions into your project. Now, lets see how to import questions from CSV files through this video. This video will cover 3 parts: What is a CSV file?, create a CSV file and import questions from a CSV file. CSV stands for Comma-Separated Values. Similar to GIFT files, CSV files are text files that allow you to compose various question types. To create a CSV file, you can use Microsoft Excel or Notepad. Here, I will use Microsoft Excel to compose my questions. Create a table including question type, points, question title and answer option columns. Make sure that you keep them in the right order like this. When composing questions, please follow the syntax of CSV format correctly. Type TF if you want to add True False questions. Open your CSV file in a text editor like Notepad++. Check the current encoding by looking at the status bar or going to the Encoding menu. If the encoding is not UTF-8, convert it by selecting Encoding Convert to UTF-8. Save the file.
Resolution Open the CSV in Notepad. (Dont use Excel to open the CSV file because the quotation marks may not be visible in Excel). On the Edit menu, select Replace. In the Find what box, type , leave the Replace with box blank, and then select Replace All. Note. Save the file, and then import it to Microsoft 365.
Right-click on the Excel XLS/CSV file and select Properties; 2. Go to Previous Versions, find and select the latest version or the last version before Excel replaced or saved, click Restore. Then you can get your Excel file XLS or CSV restored without losing any saved data.
While there is no undo option for . csv imports, you can simply initiate the import again using the correct data type. That will override the initial data type selected in the initial import.
Try to create a new Excel file with the same name as the overwritten file or find the overwritten saved file. Right-click on the Excel XLS/CSV file and select Properties; 2. Go to Previous Versions, find and select the latest version or the last version before Excel replaced or saved, click Restore.
If you close the CSV file without saving it, the AutoRecover version can also be kept. For example, if you close a CSV file without saving it, you will see a Document Recovery section on the left side after you open that file again. You can open the AutoRecover version to see the changes you have made.
Here are the steps: Right-click on the CSV file and select Properties. Go to previous versions, find and choose the latest or last version before Excel is saved, and click Restore. Follow the temp file folder location and go for Excel temp files.
This is due to a delay with syncing the . csv file back to FYI and the sync has not finished when you click I am finished editing.
