Explanation: If we have not specified any sorting with the ORDER BY clause, SQL always uses the ASC as a default sorting order.
When we want to form a group of rows, we use the GROUP BY clause. If we want to organize data in ascending or descending order based on a particular column, we use the ORDER BY clause. They do not have any relationship because both are used for two different purposes.
If your query doesnt have an ORDER BY clause, you cant reliably predict the order of your results over time. Sure, its going to look predictable at first, but down the road, as things change the indexes, the table, the servers configuration, the size of your data you can end up with some ugly surprises.
The ORDER BY clause specifies the particular order in which you want selected rows returned. The order is sorted by ascending or descending collating sequence of a columns or an expressions value. The result follows. Note: Null values are ordered as the highest value.
The ORDER BY keyword sorts the records in ascending order by default. To sort the records in descending order, use the DESC keyword.
You can use the ASC and DESC keywords to specify ascending (smallest value first) or descending (largest value first) order. The default order is ascending. For DATE and DATETIME data types, smallest means earliest in time and largest means latest in time.
After you add a table to an UPDATE statement in the SQL Query Builder, you can create a SET clause. The SET clause specifies the columns to update and the new values for the columns.
