Iamp;#39;ll explain to you threads per inch, US, and metric thread pitch. So theyamp;#39;re two different things. So basically what you have with US threads per inch, okay, is how many threads are actually in one inch of the thread area. So, when you measure one inch, like in this case here, you will see one, two, three, four, five, in that one inch. So when you read a bolt that says 1/4-20 x 2, that means quarter-inch diameter, 20 TPI (thatamp;#39;s threads per inch), which would be here, and then 2 inches long. 2 inches long would be from under the head to the end of the bolt. Whenever you have a full head like this itamp;#39;s always measured from under the head to the end of the bolt. So thatamp;#39;s your threads per inch. In metric itamp;#39;s different. In metric, itamp;#39;s thread pitch not threads per inch. Thread pitch is the distance between the peaks in millimeters. So here is a peak and hereamp;#39;s another peak. Okay. So when you read this and it says M2, which
