Rupturing or other deformation of a papers surface caused during ink transfer by the force of a sticky ink either separating the layers of a paper, forming a blister-like protrusion in the paper, or removing portions of the papers coating.
If there is picking and build-up problem during printing, tack reducer gel can be used to reduce tack value. Ink tack reducer is normally used to adjust the tack value without affecting the rheology. If there is picking and build-up problem during printing, tack reducer gel can be used to reduce tack value.
Ink tack is the force needed to split an ink film. In the lab. the ink manufacturer uses Inkometer to read the tack. But when you emulsify the ink on press, the tack goes down about 50% or so.
Offset (Paste) Inks While a letterpress ink was printed by individual sheets, the offset presses could churn out pages either by roll-to-roll or sheetfed presses. The three main types of offset inks are sheetfed, heatset and coldset inks. The inks are typically oil-based, and are dried after printing.
Lastly, the best pad printing ink for polypropylene is the Natron TP Series all-purpose pad printing ink. The next best is the one-component EK Series ink for printing plastics. These two inks feature very high gloss, opacity, and perfect adhesion to this substrate.
In multi-color printing, the first ink printed must have greater tack than the ink that will be printed on top of it, or the latter will not trap on the first ink. The tack of an ink can be measured with an Inkometer or a Tackoscope.
Printing Tack (Set Rate): This test measures the ability of a paper to absorb the thin oils from ink and the set rate of ink on our standard paper or any other paper. As the oils leave the ink film, the ink sets and after time, eventually dries. If the ink contains heavy oxidation-type oils, it sets slowly.
