If there is picking and build-up problem during printing, tack reducer gel can be used to reduce tack value. Ink tack reducer is normally used to adjust the tack value without affecting the rheology. Apply a solvent like rubbing alcohol, hair spray, or hand sanitizer to an inconspicuous area of the garment with a cotton swab and let it sit for 1 to 3 minutes. Blot with a paper towel, and if no color comes off on the towel, continue to pretreat. Blot excess ink with a paper towel to remove ink from clothes.
Rupturing or other deformation of a papers surface caused during ink transfer by the force of a sticky ink either separating the layers of a paper, forming a blister-like protrusion in the paper, or removing portions of the papers coating.
In other words, tack value reflects ink cohesive energy. When the separation velocity becomes very high, it will make ink prevent ink film from splitting on its maximal cohesive energy however the velocity increases.
Printing Tack (Set Rate): This test measures the ability of a paper to absorb the thin oils from ink and the set rate of ink on our standard paper or any other paper. As the oils leave the ink film, the ink sets and after time, eventually dries. If the ink contains heavy oxidation-type oils, it sets slowly.
Adding tack reducer will make it more difficult to roll enough thick layer of ink. Increasing tack (magnesium carbonate) will make it easier to roll enough thick layer.
(This is just another way of saying that the molecules in the paint, adhesive, or ink need to be attracted more strongly to the surface than they are to each other.) We can control the surface tension of a coating or adhesive by adding surfactants.
Ink tack is the force needed to split an ink film. In the lab. the ink manufacturer uses Inkometer to read the tack. But when you emulsify the ink on press, the tack goes down about 50% or so.
