The TEXT function in Google Sheets allows you to apply custom formatting to your data. By utilizing this function, you can add commas to numerical values directly. To use the TEXT function, identify the cell you want to format and enter the formula =TEXT(cell reference,#,##0).
Commas are used to separate items in a list of three or more. The serial or Oxford comma goes before the last item in a list. The Associated Press (AP) style doesnt use the serial comma, but its use will almost always provide more clarity, not less.
If your adjacent cell is B1 and the cell youd like to add a comma to is A1, then you can type in the formula =A1,. This tells Excel to copy the information from the cell you typed, which is A1, and paste it into the selected cell, which is B1. It also adds the comma to the end of the information you pasted.
Similar to adding spaces in the CONCATENATE function, to add a comma, simply add , as the delimiter to your formula.
How to split text in Google Sheets Select the column or cell range with the text you want to split. Click Data, and then select Split text to columns. In the Separator pop-up that appears next to your selected text, click the dropdown. Click your delimiter: Comma, Semicolon, Period, Space, or Custom.
First, select the cells to which youd like to add separator commas. Click on the Home tab in the toolbar and locate the Numbers section. Below the drop-down menu, there are a few options for adding symbols to your workbook. Click the comma icon to insert separator commas to the selected cells.
