how do some designers recognize typefaces so easily in select fonts so quickly thereamp;#39;s a good chance they know their typeface categories by thinking about classification first instead of just scrolling through every font available on the internet youamp;#39;ll be able to narrow down the potential options and make logically defendable selections serious fall into humanist also known as old style transitional with cleaner lines and sharper edges and modern which diverge from traditional hand-drawn Styles sand surf type also has its own categories for humanist where variations in line weights are clearly visible and transitional which share the uniformity and Tall upright features of transitional serifs and then thereamp;#39;s geometric based on regular geometric shapes outside of this we have miscellaneous categories like monospace where each character is drawn at the same width script which mimics calligraphy and display which is a catch-all term for fonts designed to be used

Script is a genre classification for typefaces that take direct influence from handwriting and calligraphy.
Script typefaces range from casual, looser styles to highly organized more formal styles that resemble cursive handwriting. Decorative typefaces tend to have a more blocky or chunky style with space between individual letters. As well, decorative typefaces may only include fonts in capital letters.
A script typeface is based on hand-lettering using a brush or a calligraphy pen. They have a unique element of fluid stroke attached to them. In laymans terms, it is writing using a brush while connecting letters. They were used primarily for print packaging, signage, and advertising.
The most widespread fonts in typewriters are 10 and 12 pitch, called Pica and Elite, respectively. Both fonts have the same x-height, yielding six lines per vertical inch. There may be other font styles with various width: condensed or compressed (1720 cpi), italic or bold (10 pitch), enlarged (58 cpi), and so on.
Screenplays are written in 12-point Courier, or a slight variation (Courier Prime, Courier New, Courier Final Draft, etc). Courier is a fixed-pitch font, meaning each character and space is exactly the same width.
The stroke is one of the main lines that make up the appearance of a character. The term is derived from the penmanship inherent in hand letteringand is therefore more metaphorical when talking about type.
Script typefaces are based on the varied and often fluid stroke created by handwriting. They are generally used for display or trade printing, rather than for extended body text in the Latin alphabet. Some Greek alphabet typefaces, especially historically, have been a closer simulation of handwriting.
