Hello, everyone. In this video, well look at images in the patent databases on Dialog - like this one, which is for a device to keep your dogs ears out of the food bowl. Well talk about why and how images are used in patents, what they look like, where theyre found in the databases and how they can be viewed and downloaded. I especially want to demonstrate for you how patent images can be a great tool to help you browse through your result lists on Dialog. So lets get started. On a basic level, the images in a patent record are illustrations. They show you what the invention looks like - and this can be very helpful. When we see the title Improvement in fire escapes, we might think this patent is a new achievement in architecture - but when we see the image, thats really all we need: The idea is for people to jump out of a burning building with a parachute strapped to their heads. Unfortunately, Saturdays game also provided a glaring glimpse of something that is increasingly hampering the quality of the baseball-viewing experience: a persistent, precision-based strike zone display in broadcasts, paired with home plate umpires who are too often far from precise in their calls.
The trajectory component, which consists of three PCs connected to three video cameras, tracks a pitched baseballs flight toward the strike zone. Two cameras observe the baseball, while the third observes the batter to provide proper sizing for the strike zone.
The umpire shall determine the Strike Zone ing to the batters usual stance when he swings at a pitch. 1963 - The Strike Zone is that space over home plate which is between the top of the batters shoulders and his knees when he assumes his natural stance.
The system uses TrackMan technology to track the balls trajectory and determine whether a pitch is in the strike zone. Teams are allowed three challenges per game, and if the challenge is successful, they retain the challenge for the next game.
Amendment Amendment after Notice of Allowance (Rule 312) When applicant files an amendment after the Notice of Allowance has been mailed but before the issue fee is paid, the amendment is not entered automatically. It may only be entered upon recommendation of a Primary Examiner.
The drawing must contain as many views as necessary to show the invention. One of the views should be suitable for inclusion on the front page of the patent application publication and patent as the illustration of the invention. Views must not be connected by projection lines and must not contain center lines.
An operator uses a third camera and PC to locate the strike zones top and bottom boundaries. All these components fit conveniently in one short equipment rack. During operation, each PC processes the video for one camera in real time. The processing uses a four-way multithreaded software architecture.
If the amendment is favorably considered, it is entered and a Response to Rule 312 Communication (PTO-271) is prepared. The primary examiner indicates their recommendation by stamping and signing their name on the PTO-271, which will be forwarded to the supervisory patent examiner for consideration and approval.
