Using this forklift, he assisted a forkliftoperator to load and unload rebar. To do their duties, forkliftassistants rode on the side of forklifts. The employer allowed this dangerous practice, which was contrary to regulatory requirements and to the manufacturers instructions. The forklifts doors couldbe latched to stay open. Inside the door was a handle the workers could hold onto while riding on the forklift. Travelling through the yard, theyoung worker rode on the forklift. As the forklift turned, the workerfell off and was run over. Another worker yelled at the operator to stop. Unfortunately, the young worker sustained serious injuries. The Occupational Health and Safety Regulation states that the operator of mobile equipment is the only worker permitted to ride the equipment
