[Music] okay welcome back to sh sales canada tips we want to talk about measuring we always get asked about how do i measure can i measure from the ground we are making the sales that precise we need you to measure from the holes in your posts to the other hole in your post not from the ground so you can see here im measuring from the high point to the lower connection hole in this post if you already have your hardware in thats fine just indicate that on your order form but be sure that youre measuring from either post face to post face or whole where youre going to connect to or eye to eye where your hardware is okay so its important that youre not measuring just from the ground saying heres the measurement because this measurement diagonally is longer than straight across between the posts so thats why those measurements are essential measuring from post face to post face or eye to eye you can take that off on your order form its essential that you do that if in doubt ask

The width of the lampshade (diameter at the bottom) should be roughly equal to the height of the lamp base. The height of the lampshade should be about two thirds the height of the lamp base. The lampshade should be the wider than the widest part of the lamp base.
All lamp shades are categorized as mini, small, medium, large or extra-large. These sizes are determined by a lampshades bottom diameter or width. Mini lamp shades: bottom diameter or width is 6 inches or less. Small lamp shades: bottom diameter or width of 6 to 9 inches.
Three things to remember The height of the lampshade should be about two thirds the height of the lamp base. The lampshade should be the wider than the widest part of the lamp base.
There are three golden rules to remember when it comes to choosing a lampshade for table lamps: The width of the lampshade should be equal to the height of the lamp base. The height of the lampshade should be two thirds of the height of the lamp base. The lampshade should be wider than the widest part of the lamp base.
For the 12 inch example a 10 inch shade is recommended. If you have a large diameter base then a 14 inch shade would be the one to go for. Any width of base in between, then a shade the same height as the measurement taken is required, in this case 12 inch.
A typical average floor lamp will likely be around 60-72 in height, i.e. 5 to 6 feet. Some types of floor lamps such as reading lamps and pharmacy lamps will usually be shorter, since they are designed to be used mainly when seated.
The shade should be twice as wide as the lamp base, and one third of the total height of the lamp. So for a 6-inch lamp base, the shade should be at least 12 inches wide. And if the total height of the lamp (including the bulb and harp) is 24 inches, the shade should be 8 inches tall.
For floor lamps, the height of the shade should be between 30% and 50% of the height of the lamp base. For example, a floor lamp base thats 60 inches high should have a lampshade between 18 and 30 inches in height.
The shade should be twice as wide as the lamp base, and one third of the total height of the lamp. So for a 6-inch lamp base, the shade should be at least 12 inches wide. And if the total height of the lamp (including the bulb and harp) is 24 inches, the shade should be 8 inches tall.
Lamp Height - A good rule of thumb is to find a table lamp that is approximately 30 tall from the bottom of the base to the top of the shade/finial. Without getting too mathematical, the top of the lamp should be between 58 and 64 from the ground.
