happy Monday as you can tell Im not in my actual house Im in a hotel Toronto Airport if you watch yesterdays video you know that I did a brunch wedding and that kind of inspired todays video actually it wasnt supposed to be about this but I feel that this is really important and its how to deal with bad and not great lighting situations so as you can see out here its pretty golden hour its pretty nice this is Toronto Airport lets see some some airplanes out there very very good favorable conditions my favorite time of the wedding day to shoot usually but unfortunately during a brunch wedding youre pretty much shooting from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. which is kind of all the bad lighting parts of the day so Im gonna ready through just like a quick little sample here so this obviously not the best lighting situation in the world if Im ever faced with this weather the Sun is like proper kind of off-center Golden Hour here or its like straight up in the air if I have direct sunlight

The importance of light and shadows in photography. The contrast of light and shadow is important for the proper balance of images. Light makes an image seem brighter while shadow can draw drama to a certain part of an images composition. For great photos, a careful balance is needed.
The Dark and Moody style usually looks great in spreads, with images displayed side by side in a storytelling format. Consistent lighting, editing, and storytelling, combined with this style of wedding photography, make these images perfect for album and wall art.
Humans constantly, but unconsciously, use shadows to judge the shape of objects in their environment. Because shadows reveal much about an objects extension in space, they are often used to heighten the illusion of depth in a painting.
Shadow photo edits can help your pictures look more realistic and professional. Shadows can also make your subject stand out more, creating a dynamic and visually appealing composition.
Bright highlights and rich shadows make photos compelling and memorable. Highlights are the lightest elements in an image, whereas shadows are the darkest areas. Dynamic range is the ratio between those vivid highlights and dark shadows, from bright white to pure black. That range is key to an images depth and drama.
Simply put, open shade is an area that blocks direct sunlight but is still illuminated from the surrounding light. Learning how to utilize it will allow you to shoot almost anywhere at any time of the day. Add a few other tools and techniques, and open shade can become lighting bliss!
I would suggest that you introduce yourself to the photographer, tell him you are interested in learning/watching him work and then take your cues from there. If it were me, Id be more than happy to let you in on some stuff and get some shots for yourself.
Shadows make for striking black-and-white photos, since they naturally have more contrast and dynamic range. Black and white can help you amplify the effect of shadow photography where color can distract from the simplicity of the form. But dont feel like you have to go monochrome with every shadow photo.
