Once you know the trick its pretty easy. But there are some variations that can be more useful than just the standard hanging indent. So lets take a deep dive into several ways to do it. First lets look at a very basic hanging indent. You need to put your cursor somewhere in the paragraph. It could be before the first character. It could be at the end. In the Format sidebar, click the Style button near the top, then click one of the default indent buttons in the Alignment section to increase or decrease the indent of an entire paragraph. If the text is in a text box, table or shape, first click the Text tab at the top of the sidebar, then click the Layout button.
Select one paragraph or a group of paragraphs that you want to adjust. On the Page Layout or Layout tab, in the Paragraph group, choose Paragraph Settings. Choose the Indents and Spacing tab, choose your settings, and then click OK.

To do this: Highlight the citations. Open the format menu by clicking [format paintbrush] on the right hand menu. Click on Layout in the menu. Under indents, change first to 0.00 and left 0.5. This should automatically reformat the text into a hanging indent or click the update button in the top right if it does not.
Highlight the text you want indented. You can select a single citation or multiple citations at a time. On the ruler at the top of the page, drag the Left Indent (light blue inverted triangle) to the right five spaces.
Click in a paragraph, or select one or more paragraphs. Drag the blue margin and paragraph indent markers to where you want them. To increase or decrease the indent of an entire paragraph, click one of the default indent buttons in the Format inspector.
On most computers, you can create a hanging indent by selecting the line you want indented and then holding down the Ctrl and T buttons at the same time. If you are using a Mac, press Cmd T instead. 1.
