I thought today we could look at garbage collection which is a form of automatic memory management so the the problem here is when youre programming you never know how much memory your program will use when its running so if youre running an image processing thing you dont know how big the photo youll be editing is if youre a web browser you dont know how big the web page will be so you dynamically have to ask that the operating system give me some memory the physical part of the Chip And you get access to it and later you give that back and you go through this sequence it turns out to be very difficult to do that manually and so there are techniques including garbage collection that do that automatically so you cant just say right give me absolutely loads because I want to be able to use whatever I want then well you can and its like in anything in life you can ask for all the resources and they might even be given to you but then no one else has access to them so youre try
