Physical Electronics has a new XPS software feature called image registration, previously only available for OJays spectroscopy, enhancing small area XPS analysis. Image registration, coupled with SX I x-ray imaging, ensures precise XPS analysis even for small features. In the demonstration, image registration is used on three samples: a metallized wafer pad, a solder ball, and a particle of manganese carbonate. The process involves generating SX I images for each feature, selecting points of interest, and defining distinct features and search areas for adjusting x-ray beam position during setup.
