Good morning everyone today we are in beautiful Pleasanton, California Were in a crawlspace as you can see And we are looking at whats called a Mud-sill lift So this is your foundation here, and this is your mud-sill which is the bottom piece of wood framing of the house. Theres the subfloors, theres your rim joist. So what happened here is the foundation settled okay, and instead of underpinning, lifting, and stabilizing the foundation Somebody actually lifted the framing of the house off of the foundation and then packed this grout in between. So, this does provide a lift whether or not it is effective in the long term that remains to be seen Because ultimately its a cosmetic lift, your not actually stabilizing and lifting the foundation And you see these earthquake brackets that have been added those have to be added because you are actually detaching the mud-sill anchors when you do a mud-sill lift which are put in place when they build the house for earthquake purposes.
