There are two main ways to edit a Symbol.Editing Symbols If youre using a Symbols page to organize your Symbols, go to it and edit the layers on the Artboard for your Symbol. If you arent using a Symbols page, you can look for the Symbols Artboard on the Canvas and edit the layers.
In Sketch, Symbols allow you to turn an object or group of objects into a kind of mini-template. The big advantage of this is that once youve created a Symbol, you can insert multiple instances of it into your document.
Page names should start with an emoji, e.g. 🚧 Work in Progress . Artboard names should start with numbers followed by a space, e.g. 1.1 Splash Screen . Group names, default names such as Group are forbidden. Symbol names should be using forward-slash grouping, e.g. Icon/Frog .
Go to sketch preferences (on a mac press cmd + ,), and under the first tab (General), uncheck the first box (says pixel fitting: Fit layers and points to pixel bounds). Hope it helped.
How do I turn on smart guides in Sketch? Go to the View menu in Sketch. Select Canvas and Show all guides. The second option to enable smart guides in Sketch is to right-click on one of the rulers and select Show all guides from there.
If you want to override something in an individual layer inside a Symbol, double-click to dive down into Symbol instances and select the layers within. Youll see the Overrides section of the Inspector updates to only show you the overrides for the specific layers you select.
To rename a single Symbol, click on the Symbol and rename it using the Inspector. To rename a group, double click on the group name in the left sidebar and add a new name to the group.
Format Sketch Labels In a sketch, click the Modify icon ( ) to enter Modify Mode. Click to select a label that has already been placed on the sketch that you wish to format. Or, add a new label. Now, use the formatting options in the toolbar to the upper right to set the font, size, color, and formatting of your label.
Tip: To hide and show layout grids, press ⌃ L on your keyboard.
In the Inspector, youll find settings for any Layers youve selected, or controls for the tool youre using. The Inspector hides and shows these controls and settings based on what you have selected or what youre doing.
