Quotation marks are used as text qualifiers Quotation marks appear in CSV files as text qualifiers. This means, they function to wrap together text that should be kept as one value, versus what are distinct values that should be separated out.
Example: = North;East must be written as = North;East. If a value in the CSV file contains a double quote, the whole value must be wrapped in double quotes , and a double quote must be prepended to each double quote in the value. Note: Excel does this automatically when saving as CSV.
CSV files do not have a signature. Therefore, LEADTOOLS will check the extension of the file name and if it is . csv, then it will automatically use the text filter to load the file.
csv files: The delimiter is always the comma. (The character separating fields.) Values which contain commas can be quoted using double quotes.
When you save a workbook as a .csv file, the default list separator (delimiter) is a comma. You can change this to another separator character using Windows Region settings.
In CSV files, quotation marks function as text qualifiers. This means that they define what text should be stored as a single value versus what distinct values that should be separated out. To give you an example suppose your CSV file contains data of one of your clients with a comment that looks like this.
