Small, superficial scratches can probably be buffed out, but deep cracks cant be treated this way and probably require professional repair. You can use the toothpaste method to buff out small scratches or try a trusty Mr. Clean Magic Eraserits one of the most effective at-home tools for removing light scratches.
Simply wash and dry the car, apply liquid scratch remover (which costs about $10) or another rubbing compound to a clean microfiber towel and rub against the affected section in a back-and-forth motion for about 60 seconds. Let dry and buff off excess with another towel.
Baking soda Believe it or not, baking soda (with water) is a very effective way to remove scratches. It acts pretty much like your very own DIY glass polish.
Mix one to two tablespoons of baking soda with warm water until it forms a thick paste. Apply the baking soda-water mixture directly to the scratched part of your lenses using a cotton ball or a clean microfiber cloth. Use a consistent, circular motion and gentle pressure without pushing down too hard.
Opticians cant typically fix scratched lenses without installing new ones. Once a lens is scratched deep enough, its scratched for good. An optician can adjust your glasses for you and give advice on fit or care, but the best way to treat a scratched lens is to replace it entirelythats what well always recommend.
Clean the plastic surface with a damp cloth, rubbing in a circular motion around the scratch. Dry the area to remove any dirt which should make the process easier to carry out. Apply a mild abrasive, such as toothpaste, furniture polish, baking soda or plastic polish to the scratch.
Light scratches are the easiest to remove and can often be easily buffed out using a non-abrasive cleanser: If using a powder, mix with a little water to form a paste. Dampen your cloth and apply a small amount of liquid cleaner or paste and rub the solution firmly back and forth over the scratch, following the grain.
Put a dollop of toothpaste on the area of scratch on glasses lens and gently rub it in soft circular motions by using a cotton ball or cloth. Keep rubbing in small circular motions for a few seconds and see the scratches vanish. Now, rinse the eyeglasses in clear cold water and pat dry with a clean cloth.
