Welcome back! Scott here with another video, and in this video Im going to be covering quote revisions. Whenever you need to make changes to a quote that has already been sent to a client, there needs to be an easy way for you to duplicate the quote, make the necessary changes and republish the quote. Without a quoting tool this can be very time consuming, especially if youre on version 2, 3, or 6! Quote revisions and having that version history is really important for having context and a bit of a story for that business relationship. Quoter makes quote revisions very easy. You can manage this in a couple clicks, lets get into the app and see what that looks like. I am signed in as a salesperson here, and looking at the quote history, you can see im on version number 5 for quote number 2003, and every time that theres a new version or revision made on a quote its denoted by this decimal point here. Book proposal word count varies widely. Some book proposals are on the short side, coming in at closer to 5,000 words for every component. Others are more detailed, approaching or exceeding 10,000 words. The real wild card is the book proposal writing sample.
A book proposal is a document that you submit to a publisher outlining your proposed project, who you are, and why you should be trusted with the opportunity to write a book (that is, why you will generate book sales). As such, simply having an interesting concept for a book is not enough to guarantee success.
What a book proposal should contain 1) Header. 2) A brief synopsis of the book. 3) Longer synopsis of the book, if you feel it is necessary. 4) Chapter breakdown. 5) Sample chapter (some editors will not require this) 6) Book details. 7) About the author/biography. 8) Platform/audience.
The section of the proposal that justifies the publication of the book, perhaps because it covers new material, addresses a gap in the field, or creates new connections.
A proposal is the most effective method by which to tell a prospective editor/publisher about your work. A clearly written, well argued proposal enables an editor to best determine whether or not your proposed book is suitable for the publishing program she oversees.
A proposal will give publishers confidence that you are willing and able to help them market the book. This is the part that makes many academics twitchy. We just want to do the (hard hard) work of writing. But then theres the (icky hard) part of getting our words and ideas into the hands of readers.
Writing a Textbook Proposal A clear statement of who the target audience is and a rationale for the book. A detailed table of contents. A comparative analysis of the existing books in comparisons with your proposed book. A sample chapter. The loose ends.
The average book proposal itself will be between 15 and 30 pages. But book proposal length also includes those sample chapters, and this is where individual projects can land all over the map. If your book proposal is shorter than ten pages without sample material, however, its probably too short.
