Find and replace basic text Select the magnifying glass, and then select Replace. In the Replace With box, type the replacement text. Select Replace All or Replace.
Apply conditional formatting based on text in a cell Select the cells you want to apply conditional formatting to. Click the first cell in the range, and then drag to the last cell. Click HOME Conditional Formatting Highlight Cells Rules Text that Contains. Select the color format for the text, and click OK.
How to use Replace in Excel Select the range of cells where you want to replace text or numbers. Press the Ctrl + H shortcut to open the Replace tab of the Excel Find and Replace dialog. In the Find what box type the value to search for, and in the Replace with box type the value to replace with.
Click the cell where you want to enter a reference to another cell. Type an equals (=) sign in the cell. Click the cell in the same worksheet you want to make a reference to, and the cell name is automatically entered after the equal sign. Press Enter to create the cell reference.
Go to File Options Proofing, and select AutoCorrect Options. On the AutoCorrect tab, select the Replace text as you type check box, if its not already checked. Under Replace, type the characters that you want to trigger the automatic text. The text that you selected in your document should appear under With.
Try it! Select Replace or press Ctrl + H. In the Find what box, type the text you want to search for. Select Find Next to see where the text appears in your file. In the Replace with box, type the text you want. Select Replace to change the text or select Replace All to change all instances of this text in your file.
Use the IF function, one of the logical functions, to return one value if a condition is true and another value if its false. For example: =IF(A2B2,Over Budget,OK) =IF(A2=B2,B4-A4,)
The SUBSTITUTE function in Excel replaces one or more instances of a given character or text string with a specified character(s).
