Donna Marie Smith (maiden name) = Donna Smith Jones or Donna Marie (Smith) Jones. You are changing your professional name due a divorce and dropping your prior married name in favor of using your maiden name or another last name. Donna Marie Smith = Donna Smith Jones or Donna Marie (Smith) Jones.
In the United States, as long as there is no intent to defraud, yes, you can use your maiden name.
Resumes and cover letters are not legal documents, so it is acceptable to list your preferred name on them. The way that some people do this is by listing the first initial of their legal name, followed by their preferred name (e.g. M. Andrew Smith).
Amending an Employees Surname Within Add/Amend Employees, select the employee in question using the Surname drop down menu. Left click at the end of the employees surname so that it is no longer highlighted in blue. Without deleting the original surname, type in the new surname directly after the old surname.
It is perfectly fine to include your preferred name and pronouns on a resume. A resume is not a legal-standing document by any means. The only legal matter you should be concerned about is using your legal name, if different from your preferred name, during the application process for background checks.
On the resume, you can use your first name, your maiden name, followed by your married name. When you meet anyone in the job search, you can introduce yourself with your first and married name, as it is your preference. If you have a name tag in any kind of networking meetings, I suggest you use all three names.
If youve legally changed your name, feel free to use that. Just make sure that regardless of whatever name you use on the resume, use your legal name on the job application - that is a legal document, and not putting your legal name on that can have far-docHubing (negative) consequences.
Preferred Name: If you typically use a preferred name at work, its perfectly acceptable to list that name instead of your legal name on your resume. For instance, some professionals continue to use their maiden name at work after theyve married and legally changed their last name to that of their spouse.
