I served as chair, Biykem served as vice chair, and on behalf of the writing committee wed like to present to you some of the highlights from that guideline. We updated or actually wrote a whole new guideline, because the original guideline was back in 2013 with an update in 2017, and since that time theres been multiple studies impacting the care of heart failure patients, and we felt it was important to have the guideline reflect those changes in care. Patients in the end stages of heart failure want to know what to expect. The symptoms of end-stage congestive heart failure include dyspnea, chronic cough or wheezing, edema, nausea or lack of appetite, a high heart rate, and confusion or impaired thinking.
A low number can be serious. If your ejection fraction is 35% or below, you're at high risk of developing a dangerous arrythmia or even heart failure.
Congestive cardiac failure is a condition in which the heart loses the ability to pump blood efficiently throughout the body. The disease affects other organs in the body, resulting in breathing difficulty, reduced kidney function, and fluid accumulation in body tissues (edema) from poor circulation.
