Add a legend by adding \legend{function 1, function 2} after the addplot commands. Hint: If your legend covers up an important part of your plot, add legend pos=north/south east/west to the axis parameters to move it. For example, to move the legend to the upper left use legend pos=north west .
Python has a function called legend() which is used to place a legend on the axis. The legend function has an attribute called loc which is used to denote the location of the legend. The default value of attribute loc is upper left. Other string, such as upper right, lower left, lower right can also be used.
Approach: Import Library (Matplotlib) Import / create data. Plot a chart. Add legend. Set position of legend using loc.
For example: ax. plot([1, 2, 3]) ax. legend([A simple line]) line, = ax. plot([1, 2, 3], label=Inline label) # Overwrite the label by calling the method. line. legend((line1, line2, line3), (label1, label2, label3)) Parameters: loc : int or string or pair of floats, default: upper right
legend() function in axes module of matplotlib library is used to place a legend on the axes. Syntax: Axes.legend(self, *args, **kwargs) Parameters: This method accepts the following parameters. Returns:This method returns the matplotlib. legend. Legend instance.
To create a legend in Matplotlib, you can use the legend() function after plotting your data. This function adds a legend to your plot, which helps to identify different data series.
The easiest is to use hue= with the same variable as x= . Youll need to set dodge=False as by default a position is reserved for each x - hue combination. Note that when you arent using hue , no legend is added as the names and colors are given by the x tick labels.
Matplotlib legends in subplot Using numpy, create points for x, y1, y2 and y3. Create a figure and a set of subplots, using the subplots() method, considering 3 subplots. Plot the curve on all the subplots(3), with different labels, colors. To activate label for each curve, use the legend() method.
