Click or tap where you want to insert the special character. Go to Insert Symbol More Symbols. Go to Special Characters. Double-click the character that you want to insert.
The special characters for quote (), apostrophe (), less-than (), and ampersand () are used for punctuation in XML, and are represented with predefined entities: quot;, apos;, lt;, gt;, and amp;.
Characters are denoted using the notation used in the Unicode Standard, that is, an optional U+ followed by their hexadecimal number, using at least 4 digits, such as U+1234 or U+10FFFD. In XML or HTML this could be expressed as #x1234; or #x10FFFD;.
Inserting special characters Directly type the special character (if this is possible) or copy it from a third-party application (such as Windows Character Map utility), then paste it in the XML document. Click on the character displayed in a character palette of the Characters tool.
Note that the ampersand () and less-than (
XML - Tags Start Tag. The beginning of every non-empty XML element is marked by a start-tag. End Tag. Every element that has a start tag should end with an end-tag. Empty Tag. The text that appears between start-tag and end-tag is called content. XML Tags Rules.
Since XML cannot handle special characters, you should use the escape characters. So, element should be replaced with amp. (Greater than) to #62.
In XML, string literals are delimited by either a pair of single quotes, e.g., a string literal, or a pair of double quotes, e.g., a string literal. Remember to escape single or double quotes using the ampersand notation, e.g., Tomapos;s thumb and Response: quot;Noquot;.
