For a duplicate title in MD, an Application For Duplicate Certificate of Title (Form VR-108) has to be completed. You also need your MD drivers license. If your vehicle is co-owned, you must include the co-owners name and signature on the title replacement form.
If your original title has been lost or destroyed, you will need to request a duplicate title At the Maryland MVA, you can obtain a duplicate title but it can take 7-10 business days to receive it.
The Maryland MVA no longer provides same day duplicate titles. If you order a duplicate title from the MVA, whether on-line or in person, you will receive the title in the mail. This takes approx. 7 to 10 days.

Your request for a duplicate title may be processed at all full service MVA offices. A completed application for duplicate certificate of title (form #VR-018) signed by the owner must be submitted. A copy of the owners valid drivers license or state issued ID must accompany the application.
To successfully transfer a vehicles title in Maryland, you need: A correctly signed title certificate that contains the vehicle sellers name and signature. The Purchasers name and address also needs to be included on the title certificate. A completed application for title (if required)
The Maryland MVA no longer provides same day duplicate titles. If you order a duplicate title from the MVA, whether on-line or in person, you will receive the title in the mail. This takes approx. 7 to 10 days.

You will need a notary, witnessing both the buyer(s) and seller(s) signatures, if you present a bill of sale to complete your transaction.
You can apply for a title (and registration) in person at any of the MVAs full service branch offices. You also can mail the documents to the MVAs Mail in Title Unit in the Glen Burnie office, or go to an MVA licensed tag and title service where they will assist you in applying.
