Even if you arent breaking the law, plagiarism can seriously impact your academic career. While the exact consequences of plagiarism vary by institution and severity, common consequences include: a lower grade, automatically failing a course, academic suspension or probation, or even expulsion.
All they have to do is enter their students text into the Quetext plagiarism checker, which immediately begins evaluating for copied content. It then returns a plagiarism score, along with a ColorGrade report of exact matches (red), fuzzy matches (orange), and original content (green).
Pasting text into a document is no different than typing it. However, if you copy something from the Internet and just change a few words here and there, plagiarism checkers can very often detect that. They will show the original text along with the changes youve made.
However, the content pasted can still be checked for plagiarism by tools like Unicheck. Its essential to ensure originality, not just by avoiding direct copying but by thoroughly understanding and then writing in ones words. Direct copying, even without detection during the act, can still have severe repercussions.
Colleges use sophisticated plagiarism detection software like Bytescare, Turnitin, Copyscape, and Grammarly as a primary tool to scan student papers for any evidence of plagiarism.
In some cases, experienced educators can identify copied work without any tools. However, most use plagiarism detector tools like PlagiarismCheck.org, which can scan multiple assignments simultaneously and produce comprehensive reports within a few moments.
Copying and Pasting Plagiarism Anytime you copy and paste verbatim from a source and do not give the source credit it is plagiarism. If you do copy and paste a passage word for word, you must put the information in quotations (i.e. ) marks and give credit to the author. This is called a direct quote.
