To make a bulleted-list in R Markdown , a series of lines are prefaced with an asterisk in exactly the manner as in a plain-text email (See Figure 1).
Bullet point lists can be created by starting each line with an asterisk followed by a space before the content of the bullet point. Note that the space is important and should not be forgotten.
File metadata and controls To bold text, add two asterisks or underscores before and after a word or phrase. To bold the middle of a word for emphasis, add two asterisks without spaces around the letters. I just love **bold text**.
Right-click, and then click Adjust List Indents. Change the distance of the bullet indent from the margin by clicking the arrows in the Bullet position box, or change the distance between the bullet and the text by clicking the arrows in the Text indent box.
To nest one list within another, indent each item in the sublist by four spaces. You can also nest other elements like paragraphs, blockquotes or code blocks. You can mix ordered and unordered lists. To nest a paragraph or blockquote, indent by either 4 spaces or one tab.
You can make a bulleted list by starting each line with a - or * character followed by a space. You can make a numbered list by starting each line with a 1. followed by a space. You can make a nested section of a list by adding two spaces before the bullet or number character.
Indentation for child lists. For child or grandchild lists, insert four spaces (or two, two-space tabs) to precede the bullet point or number. While you can use three spaces to indent child lists, we recommend the four space or two tab method, as they render lists more consistently and are easier to type.
