Before rubber notary seal stamps were approved in most states, embossers were used for notarization. To assemble your new embosser, hold it upright and remove the plates from the back. The bottom plate, with rectangular grooves facing down, should be squeezed together for insertion. Align the metal tabs on the seal press with the grooves to insert the plates correctly. To create an impression, slide a document between the plates and squeeze the handle. Most states require the embossed seal to be inked. Use an embossment inker, centering it over the seal impression, to apply the ink. If the coverage is incomplete, gently tamp the inker for better results.
