welcome to math with mr. J in this video weamp;#39;re going to be covering subtracting negative numbers and as you can see there are four problems on your screen that weamp;#39;re going to solve there are also two number lines that are going to help us visualize and see exactly what weamp;#39;re doing when we subtract negative numbers so letamp;#39;s jump right in to number one so for number one we have two minus negative three and subtraction tells us to go backwards on a number line right so for example if we had ten minus three we know that equals seven right we start at ten and we take away one two three and we end at seven now when weamp;#39;re working with negative numbers they actually tell us the opposite so if we do ten my art Iamp;#39;m sorry two minus negative three we start at two here and weamp;#39;re going to take away negative three and again that negative tells us to do the opposite so weamp;#39;re not going to go backwards on the number line weamp;#39;re actua

Negative numbers are usually written with a minus sign in front. For example, 3 represents a negative quantity with a magnitude of three, and is pronounced minus three or negative three.
Negative numbers are typed into Excel by using a hyphen - symbol and the number.
The negative version of a positive number is referred to as its negation. For example, 3 is the negation of the positive number 3. The sum of a number and its negation is equal to zero: 3 + (3) = 0.
Negative numbers are written with a minus sign in front, for example,-7 and this would be pronounced either minus 7 or negative 7. The negative sign tells you how far away a number is from zero, so -2 is two steps away from zero.
It means to find the negation of a number (i.e., its twos complement) you flip every bit then add 1. The standard for negating a 2s compliment number is to flip all the bits, then add one.
A negative number is always less than zero. A negative number is written by putting a minus sign, , in front of a positive number. For example, 3 is a positive number, but 3 is a negative number. It is read negative three or minus three; it means the opposite of 3.
A minus sign in front of the number: -$100.
There are also several formats that can be used to indicate a negative dollar value. A few examples: -$100 (no space between the minus sign and the dollar sign). $100 (a space between the minus sign and the dollar sign).
