Create UI texture and drag your png in the image slot. You have to Import your png as sprite (2d and gui) or something similar. With new UI system you just need to set the PNG import settings texture mode to Sprite. Then you can just use them directly with for example Image objects.
In recent versions of Unity, you will need to drop it on the square to the left of Albedo. Then click on the new material and in your inspector window it should show you that your image is the active texture and the shader should be set to diffuse by default.
Texture: Texture has an effect on the medium frequency ranges of images. This effectively helps increase or decrease contrast in the frequencies that register as texture to our eyes. Importing Textures Select the image file in the Project window. In the Inspector. More info. See in Glossary, set the Texture Import Settings. Click the Apply button to save the changes. To use the imported Assets in your Project: For 3D Projects, create a Material and assign the Texture to the new Material.
Create a new Render Texture asset using Assets Create Render Texture. Create a new Camera using GameObject Camera. Assign the Render Texture to the Target Texture of the new Camera.
Use SetTexture to change the texture (identified by shader property name, or unique property name ID). When setting textures on materials using the Standard Shader, you should be aware that you may need to use EnableKeyword to enable features of the shader that were not previously in use.
Prepare an image of your choice and add it to the Project window. Create a material file and open the Inspector window. Drag and drop an image onto the square to the left of Albedo to make it a material. When the material is applied to the object, it will look like the image below.
