If you want to make an input mandatory to be entered by the user, you can use the required attribute. This attribute can be used with any input type such as email, URL, text, file, password, checkbox, radio, etc. This can help to make any input field mandatory.
You cant remove the Required field but you can hide that. 1) Change the field type from Name to Auto Number. 2) Now in the Page layout remove that name field.
Click on the gear icon then Setup Object Manager. Choose the object Fields Relationships. Select the custom field that you will make required. Click on Edit and under General Options select Required. Click on Save.
To make a field not required: Go to Config Fields. Highlight the record type where the field resides. Locate the desired field and unmark the Required checkbox.
Click on gear icon then Setup Object Manager. Choose the object Page Layouts. Select the page layout that you use on the object. Click on the wrench icon beside the custom field that you will make required. Select the Required checkbox. Click on Ok, then click on Save.
Make a field mandatory. Change the field label or hint. Delete a field from a table. Add users to a watch list. Configure email notifications for watch lists. Hide email addresses in a watch list. Highlight list fields. Modify string field length. Specify a default field value. Make a field dependent.
Visibly indicate the required fields only, typically with an asterisk or the word required in the label. Visibly indicate the optional fields only, typically with the word optional in the label.
You can make a field mandatory through: Dictionary Definition of the field (make the read-only check box true) a client script (using gform. setMandatory(, true)
