The tutorial begins with an overview of the ticket design and emphasizes the importance of numbering in two places. Sandy opens Microsoft Excel to handle the numbering process, advising viewers to start numbering tickets at 100 for up to 900 tickets or at 1000 for more. The tutorial also briefly introduces the autofill feature in Excel, instructing viewers on how to use it for generating sequential numbers in their ticket designs.
