Hello everyone, following up from the previous tutorial on one-to-one join by attributes, today well discuss the second type the one-to-many join, where there are many rows or features for one corresponding feature geometry. Well demonstrate these procedures using the Farms Classified by Total Farm Capital table, which includes the numbers of farms reporting in six separate capital categories for each corresponding boundary. The table also requires some formatting inan external editor, including extracting the joint information which is not unusual for performing joins or integrating Statistics Canada tables with vector data presently. So within the table well begin by moving the first Census Agricultural Region name down to align with the first capital category and delete the row it was in. Then well copy the main table to a new workbook to continue editing. So now we must fill the Census Agricultural Region names for each capital category. So under

Spatial Joins Contains. Crosses. Intersects. Overlaps. Touches. Within.
Joining attributes in one table to another In the table of contents, right-click the layer or table you want to join, point to Joins and Relates, then click Join. Click the What do you want to join to this layer? Click the field on which the join will be based. Choose the table to join to the layer or table.
For example, using a search radius of 100 meters with the spatial relationship Within a distance will join feature within 100 meters of a target feature. For the three Within a distance relationships, if no value is specified for Search Radius, a distance of 0 is used.
The terms adopted for them (disjoint, meet, overlap, equal, contains, inside, covers, and coveredBy) will be often shortened with d, m, o, e, ct, i, cv, cB. this matrix with the matrices of the other 7 relations (Figure 1), it can be determined that only M meet matches the template
Spatial Join Types A spatial join uses one of two types of relationships: a one-to-one relationship or a one-to-many relationship. A many-to many-relationship is not possible in a spatial join.
A spatial join matches rows from the Join Features values to the Target Features values based on their relative spatial locations. By default, all attributes of the join features are appended to attributes of the target features and copied to the output feature class.
When performing an attribute join, the joined fields are dynamically added to the existing table. Field propertiessuch as aliases, visibility, and number formattingare maintained when a join is added or removed.
In ArcMap,right-click the layer to which you want to join attributes, point to Joins and Relates, and click Join. To join two spatial datasets, click the first drop-down arrow and click Join data from another layer based on spatial location.
