hello everyone how are you doing this is MD thank you have another quick tutorial today Iamp;#39;m going to show you guys how to italicize text on your Microsoft Word document so this is pretty straightforward and weamp;#39;re going to jump right into it so depending on whether weamp;#39;re trying to do it just for a certain area or the entire body of the paper it really depends so if youamp;#39;re just doing it for a little area I recommend just left clicking on your mouse pointer and then drag it over the area you want to italicize so letamp;#39;s say the entire first paragraph here if you wanted to do the entire paper Iamp;#39;d recommend tapping on the ctrl + a key that will select the entire document so you just do a quick tap on the control and the a key at the same time so use two different fingers so hold on the control in the a key that will highlight the entire document and then once youamp;#39;ve done that you can go up to the top left if youamp;#39;re undern

In much the same way as general emphasis, if you are drawing attention to a specific word you can put it in italics: Example: The word very is often unnecessarily added to academic writing.
7 Rules For Italics Emphasis. Want a word or phrase to stand out in a block of text? Titles Of Work. The titles of works should be italicized (or underlined). Articles. Foreign Words. Names Of Trains, Ships, Spaceships. Words As Reproduced Sounds. Words As Words.
To form an italic letter a you may push the pen back a little from right to left to start with. Bring it round in a smooth lozenge shape, with a slightly pointy base somewhat over to the left. (This is what gives the body of the letter its slant.)
When italic type is not available (for example, in a typewriter or handwritten manuscript), underline to indicate italics; if the manuscript is later set in type, the typesetter will use italics for underlined words. 1. Titles. Italicize the titles of things that can stand by themselves.
What is the purpose of italics? Italics are used primarily to denote titles and names of particular works or objects in order to allow that title or name to stand out from the surrounding sentence. Italics may also be used for emphasis in writing, but only rarely.
When should italics not be used? Italics should not be used for the titles of short works, such as poems, articles, short stories, or song namesall of which use quotation marks instead. The names of geographic locations and religious texts use neither italics nor quotes, but theyre still capitalized.
Most commonly, italics are used for emphasis or contrast that is, to draw attention to some particular part of a text.
Bold, italics, and all caps should be used sparingly. Theyre intended for emphasis and if everything (i.e.: a whole paragraph) is all caps/bold/italic, nothing is emphasized. Italicization is used for gentle emphasis, bold is used for heavier emphasis. All caps are another alternative means of emphasis.
