The golden rules of logo design Lay the groundwork. Value your sketchpad. Start in black and white. Keep it appropriate. Aim for easy recall. Strive for difference. Consider the broader brand identity. Dont be too literal.
The 10 Biggest Mistakes in Logo Design 1) Not Following an Intuitive Process. 2) Confusing Your Terminology. 3) Not Doing Enough Research. 4) Creating Your Logo Design in Color (First) 5) Using the Same Typography for Your Wordmark and Brand Content. 6) Using Generic Imagery.

Yes, provided you have a proper license for that font. Also, remember that its a good idea to tweak the font in small ways so that it stands out from a simple logotype. Otherwise, your logo may look like thousands of other logos.
The USPS requires shipping labels to be black and white and all text to be written in an uppercase, sans serif font. It recommends Arial Veranda, Helevetica, Avant Garde, Century Gothic and Geneva.
I think people like it because it gives a softer appearance to the text. If youre going for a classy, elegant feel, rounded corners and bubbly serifs wont cut it. I think italics help split the difference.
The name comes from the fact that calligraphy-inspired typefaces were first designed in Italy, to replace documents traditionally written in a handwriting style called chancery hand.
We recommend fonts such as Helvetica or Open Sans. These are both sans serif fonts, ones which lack the extra flicks and details seen in others such as Times New Roman. This helps prevent text looking as if it is merging together when printed at small sizes.
A Bad Logo Is Not Scalable Complicated or detailed logos can easily become difficult to understand or read when scaled below the size of their original design. Elements like gradients, fonts, and shadows can make logos difficult to resize if they were originally designed with a specific size in mind.
