ISO 27001 is a widely accepted and adaptable approach to data security that was recently updated to a 2022 version from its 2013 version. This update brings several changes, big and small, that we will explore in this video. Sprinto helps customers achieve compliance with ISO 27001, empowering them to meet their security and business goals. We will also discuss how companies reduce costs and time requirements post-implementation. One small change is the name, as the 2022 version is titled differently from the 2013 version.

Clause 4.2 of ISO 27001 requires organisations to understand the needs and expectations of interested parties. Interested parties are defined as persons or organisations that can affect, be affected by, or perceive themselves to be affected by the organisations activities.
Here are the key elements of Clause 4: Determining the scope of the ISMS: Organizations must determine the boundaries and applicability of the ISMS by defining the information assets, processes, locations, and technologies that are within the scope of the ISMS.
Clause 5 is the second of the mandatory clauses in the ISO27001:2013. It builds from clause 4 which identifies the scope of the Information Security Management System (ISMS), and identifies the top management responsibilities for the actual implementation.
What does Clause 7.2 involve? ISO IEC 27001 for clause 7.2 basically says that the organisation will ensure that it has: determined the competence of the people doing the work on the ISMS that could affect its performance. people that are deemed competent on the basis of the relevant education, training or experience.
ISO 27001:2022 Clause 4.1: Understanding the organisation and its context. The organisation shall determine external and internal issues that are relevant to its purpose and that affect its ability to achieve the intended outcome(s) of its information security management system.
The ones you need to know about are clauses 4-10 and Annex A. Clauses 4-10 list every requirement an information security management system (ISMS) must meet before it can be ISO 27001 certified. Annex A lists 114 security controls that an organization can implement to meet those requirements.
An information security management system that meets the requirements of ISO/IEC 27001 preserves the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information by applying a risk management process and gives confidence to interested parties that risks are adequately managed.
