hey everybody today I want to talk about return values and error checking so the other day I was looking at a students code and it inspired this video I got thinking about it and thinking that it would be a nice reminder for everyone out there the students issue involved the following code which of course has been modified dramatically to protect the innocent and to make sure that we are in compliance with FERPA so the codes simple it just opens a file and reads the contents of the file out in chunks and then the students project was actually doing something with these chunks but for the purposes of this video were just gonna print them out now this code is going to work just fine as long as everything is good as long as the user uses it as intended as long as the file exists as long as we have the appropriate permissions to read from it now if Im just trying to hack something together and this is just something I need to do really quick its quick and dirty no ones ever gonna look
