In this video Id like to show you how to insert a symbol in Microsoft Word. And this can be pretty useful when youre looking for a character, a graphic, or some type of image that isnt available on the keyboard. So let me show you what I mean. If I go to, actually first lets dial up this font so its easier for you to see, if I go to Insert and then Symbol notice first of all that I have a lot of symbols, some of these Ive used recently, some I have not. But they give me a lot of symbols here. Im going to go ahead and go to More Symbols. And then here we have a whole bunch of different symbols we can use. I like to use the mathematical operators for some of the work I do. Where just to show you briefly here, notice here theres a less than or equal sign, greater than equal sign, these arent symbols that I cant get from my keyboard. I cant get that equal part of the less than sign. So if I like a symbol, I want to select it, click Insert, and there you go. so heres my le

The US International Keyboard gives you two ways to add a special character: Use the right-hand Alt key in combination with the appropriate letter to get one of the more common combinations. For example, Alt+e will result in: Press the symbol you want to use and then the letter you want to use it with.
All you need to do is hold down the Alt key as you type that character code. When you release the Alt key, Word inserts the symbol in the document. Another approach is to simply type the four Unicode characters and then press Alt+X, which converts the character code to the symbol.
Getting to extended characters is pretty simple on the iPhone or iPad. Open the keyboard in Messages, Notes, or another app. Press and hold on a specific key. If there are extended characters, youll see a popup with a list of options. To select a special character, keep your finger pressed down and swipe over to them.
