Heres a step-by-step guide: Open Word and create a new document. Put your cursor where you want the bullet points. On the Home tab, click the Bullets button in the Paragraph group. A drop-down menu appears with various bullet styles. Select one by clicking on it.
Long descriptions make your application look cluttered and less readable. Generally, you should aim to keep bullet points one line long. If it cant be helped, then two lines are the max. Otherwise, its not so different from writing paragraphs.
Besides including each references contact information (name, phone number, email), provide some additional context by including their job title and the company they work for. You should also explain how you know the person, such as Person A was my supervisor for three years at Company X.
Because the English language rarely uses accents, theres often some confusion about which accent to use on words like resume. The accents on the letter e in rsum are called acute accents. The accents on the letter a in apple pie la mode are called grave accents.
Make sure you prioritize your bullet points. Place the most important and most relevant points nearer the top of your resume, and the less important ones nearer the bottom. Each bullet should start with a strong, dynamic action verb (in the past tense) followed by what you produced or accomplished.
You will be tempted to go over the 5-6 maximum, and thats okay because you really have a lot to show the hiring manager. But dont go too far. Making your bullet list 8 bullets long is more than enough. Anything more than that would no longer work in your favor.
If youd like to use icons throughout the resume, then placing them next to the section headings is a good idea. These symbols can add a more modern feel and help draw the hiring managers attention down the page. They also give you a chance to add a touch of color further down on your resume.
Be specific about what you did and how you did it. Start your bullet points or statements with strong action verbs. Provide contextual details to inform the reader about the purpose of your work, the scope of the project, and what you produced or accomplished. Quantify your work and achievements where possible.
