Although in-text citations are fairly common in legal memos and factums, footnotes are the preferred method of citation used at law school. There are two types of footnotes: Citation Footnotes: directly support the authors argument and point the reader to the source which is being quoted or referred to.
Instead, in the case of footnotes, indicate the page number on which the footnote is found, followed first by a space and then by n. and the footnote number. Note that there is no comma between the page number and the n. and no space between the n. and the footnote number.

Publisher functions quite similarly to Microsoft Word, but unlike Word, it does not have a built-in footnotes feature. However, you can still annotate your publications or have a footnotes section by using a workaround and doing it manually.
You cannot insert a citation into a text box because it is not part of the main body of the text.
Footnotes should appear at the bottom of the page on which they are referenced rather than at the end of the paper. Footnotes should be in 10 pt. Times. They should be single-spaced, and there should be a footnote separator rule (line).
Footnotes should be placed on the same page as their accompanying text. Footnote numbers are placed in superscript, usually at the end of the sentence. If you are referring to a word, place the footnote number directly after the word.
